Collection efficiency can be remarkably improved by recognizing that
the dust particle size distribution is nonuniform inside the precipitator and
that a skewed flow profile can reduce particle emissions
between 30% to 60% (average 40%). PSL partners with
Stothert Engineering to bring clients a
simple and cost effective way to
retrofit precipitators to achieve their environmental emission targets.
PSL models the gas flow inlet, the effects of swirl vanes, the perforated plates,
ducting, and pressure drop due to fields. Stothert Engineering designs the retrofit
and uses an advanced particle model to
determine the best way to skew the flow based on the flow results calculated by PSL.
Advantage and Benefits
The model provides comprehensive information throughout the entire precipitator
at relatively low cost and with better resolution than physical models
Can evaluate "what if" scenarios to improve precipitator efficiency
